8th Graders interested in HS Sports

Attention all eighth grade student/athletes. On May 31st DPS Athletics along with Dicks Sporting Goods is putting on the first ever DPS Sports Showcase. Eighth Grade Student/Athletes will select sports they are interested in for their high school careers. Sports offered will be basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis,lacrosse, football, softball, baseball, golf, track & field. There will also be Fitness Challenges for the athletes. This is a one day event that will give the 8th grade student/athletes a forum for meeting their Future High School coaches and getting a jump on the process of joining athletics for their Freshman year. When: Saturday, May 31st 8:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Where: All-City Stadium Complex and Denver South High School. Cost: $10 for early registration, $15 for month out registration and $20 for week out registration. Highlights: Nuggets Fitness Trainer Steve Hess, Rocky, DPS High School Cheerleaders, DPS Trainers, the Montbello Drum line, Mark Randall and other sponsors will be on hand to get the kids excited about Fitness. T-shirts, prizes, a DPS Signing Day Booth will all be a part of the days event. Any questions, please contact Mr. Paavola.

Johann Kailey-Steiner at TEDx

Johann Kailey-Steiner former Grant Beacon Middle School student has been selected to speak at the TEDx Mile High Youth event at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Wednesday, April 16th. Johann will be speaking about his involvement in science and aerospace through competitive science fair and mentorships. His talk will also include how middle and high school students can pursue STEM careers and explain how students can get involved in the space industry.

Johann Kailey-Steiner completed his middle school education at GBMS, and is a current 9th grader at South High School. His project was awarded first place in the Mathematics category at the Broadcom Masters National Science Competition this year.

Dental Sealant Program (6th & 7th Grade)

The Denver Health School Based Dental Sealant program will be providing FREE of cost, oral disease preventive services the week of April 7th for 6th grade students.   Touch-ups will be provided for 7th grade students that participated last year.

They are hosting an evening where all incoming 9th graders will start to choose classes for next year!  The night is for students and their parents.

When:  Thursday, April 17th 6:30-8:00 PM

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR TOMORROW:

  • Report to the auditorium by 7:15 AM for attendance.  The Bus will be departing Grant Middle School at 7:30 AM so make sure you are on-time!!! 
  • Make sure you have someone picking you up at Grant at 6:00 PM (no buses will be provided to bring you home).
  • Bring a Jacket to keep you warm.
  • Bring lunch/snack or money to purchase food (at least $10)
